ISNA Condemns Mass Shooting in Indianapolis

Plainfield, Indiana
April 16, 2021

We at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) are saddened by the tragic mass shooting in Indianapolis last night. A gunman entered a Fedex facility in Indiana’s capital, killing eight people and injuring several others. The shooter then took his own life afterward.

Indiana authorities are gathering details about the incident, but that will not assuage the grief we all feel today. Families are hurting and we share their anger and sorrow. This latest mass shooting adds to a long list of tragedies we have witnessed. In its reporting, CNN found that there were about 45 mass shootings in the US just last month.

ISNA calls on authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation, and we hope that the Biden-Harris administration continues its efforts to address the gun violence epidemic.
