COVID-19

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have passed away and those who continue to be affected by COVID-19.  We salute the health care workers and others who are fighting at the front lines of this global pandemic.  The Islamic Society of North America has taken several steps in response to COVID-19.

On March 18, 2020, in collaboration with other national organizations (American Muslim Health Professionals, Islamic Medical Association of North American, and the Fiqh Council of North America), ISNA established the National Muslim COVID-19 Task Force. The Task Force has representation from more than 40 national organizations and is composed of policy experts, civic and religious leaders, public health and medical professionals and other experts. We have issued regular press releases, conducted webinars on COVID-19, and provided information and guidance to the community.

ISNA has also offered regular virtual programming to the community on a variety of topics including programs on COVID-19 by inviting medical experts, Islamic Scholars, and other experts.

ISNA COVID-19 STATEMENTS AND UPDATES

Free COVID-19 Test Kits

You can order a free COVID-19 test kit online at COVIDTests.gov. To ensure board access, the program will limit the number of tests sent to each residential address to four tests. Tests will usually ship within 7-12 days of ordering.

COVID-19 Vaccines do not invalidate Fasting

All non-nutritional injections taken by the muscles are permissible to take during fasting, according to most Muslim jurists. It is permissible to take COVID Vaccine injection during fasting in Ramadan or at any time. It will not invalidate the fast because it has no nutritional value and it is injected into the muscle. The statement was issued by the Fiqh Council of North America
