ISNA Strongly Condemns the Attack on U.S. Capitol

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) strongly condemns the violent actions and attack on the U.S. Capitol. This is an attack on democracy and American Ideals, said ISNA President, Safaa Zarzour.  This attack is the culmination of widening political divisions growing in our country, which are a threat to our democracy. ISNA appeals to the administration to take every action necessary for the safety and security of all. We pray for the lives lost as well as those who are in harm’s way. While we greatly value our first amendment right to freedom of speech, we condemn the violence and lawlessness of rioters’ invasion of the U. S. Capitol and putting everyone in harm’s way. It is reassuring to see that our Congress has fulfilled its duty to certify the election results despite the challenge of this insurrection.
