ISNA Stands in Solidarity with Our Jewish Brothers and Sisters

(Plainfield, IN 2/21/17) The Islamic Society of North America is alarmed and concerned by the recent rise of attacks and threats made against the Jewish community. We stand in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters during this difficult time and are committed to working together to address and overcome the hatred and bigotry harming our communities. In a statement, ISNA President Azhar Azeez said: Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and other forms of hatred and bigotry are contradictory to the pluralistic values of our nation. As a nation, we are stronger united, not divided. The divisiveness of hatred and bigotry is a threat to our nation’s unity. We encourage our members to reach out to their local synagogue and Jewish neighbors to express their solidarity and support and to generously support the rebuilding of the recently desecrated cemetery. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is the largest and oldest Islamic umbrella organization in North America. Its mission is to foster the development of the Muslim community, interfaith relations, civic engagement, and better understanding of Islam. –END– Faryal M.
