On January 3rd, 2013, ISNA Officials attended the Bipartisan Prayer Service of the 113th Congress at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, just a couple blocks away from our nations Capital. Newly elected and current members of Congress joined in acknowledgement of God’s omnipotence through recitation and reflection on ancient wisdom texts, including the Islamic poetry of Rumi:
You suppose you are the trouble
But you are the cure
You suppose you are the lock on the door
But you are the key that opens it
It’s too bad that you want to be someone else
You don’t see your own face, your own beauty
Yet no face is more beautiful than yours.
Rumi
ISNA joins our fellow Americans in prayer and well wishes for the 113th Congress of the United States of America.
