ISNA held the “volunteer appreciation event” on October 26th at the ADAMS Center in Sterling, Virginia. More than 200 convention volunteers participated at this event. Among the attendees were ISNA President Imam Mohamed Magid, Convention Steering Committee Chair Rizwan Jaka, Vice Chair Shama Farooq, and the ISNA Convention Director Basharat Saleem.
ISNA recognizes and appreciates the contribution of volunteers in its events and other programs. Volunteers not only give their time but also contribute in many ways including the skills they provide for executing various functions within the convention.
In his remarks Imam Magid thanked the volunteers and ISNA staff and pointed out that Islam teaches us to recognize the contributions of people and thank fellow human beings. Basharat Saleem said that given the limited human resources at ISNA, this convention would not be possible without the support of our volunteers. Distribution of appreciation certificates, gifts, nasheed performances, and sharing of convention experiences by volunteers marked this event.
At this event, ISNA President recognized the need for a year-round volunteer program.
Volunteers reconnected with friends they made during the convention and vowed to continue their participation in ISNA’s future events.
